My husband and I just arrived couple of days ago in Dhaka and we are still trying to find our way to get through this crowd. We are still browsing, still searching and still asking around in finding what and where in this new city.We are moving here for maybe few years to come where our 14 years old daughter will follow us soon.
And, as the lady of the house and the mother, I need to find lots of things to ensure that we can settle-in and put our little family's life as comfortable as we can. We are really lucky that we don't have to get through the headache in finding a place to live in. We will take over the apartment of my husband's predecessor which we found very nice as it is a spacious apartment with the view to the Gulshan lake. One problem is solved, but what about many others? First and the most important is the school for our daughter, where would be the best to send her? And among other things: where to go for daily supplies? groceries? bakeries? fresh market? good swimming place? where to hang out? any other parents who have kid on the same age as our daughter that we can connect with? is there yoga class? where are the salon & spa? and so on.
So, that is where the hunting begun. I made lots of internet browsing in order to find all of those information, but there is none of the search came out with all information I want in one site. All info are scattered around, I had to scroll down different pages and sites and still it there wasn't enough information on it. I even registered my self to many different expat community pages in order to get some information out. I remember when we were in Myanmar, there was one book (which I forgot the title and the writer) that provided us with all those of questions along with the review. In here, you might be lucky if type the right tag words. It's a kind of frustrating! There should be one site that can provide you, the newly arriving expat with that sort of information, right?
So today, out of this frustration, I decided to start this blog and put everything I found in one single blog in hoping that I can help others who has the same problem as I am. And I do hope it will help somehow. So here it is, this blog is dedicated for you, the newly arriving expats in Bangladesh.! At least for those who will arrive in the next few months, where the info on this page still up-to-date.
